How Do We Maintain Our Inner Critic

How do we keep this negative self-talk going?  How do we continue to allow it to impact ourlives even after the original programmer is no longer around? Well, we do itby:
  • repeating the messages to ourselves when we feelstressed, angry, anxious, hurt etc…
  • regretting the past or worrying about the future
  • setting unrealistic expectations for ourselves
  • choosing behaviors that support these negativebeliefs
  • criticizing, negating and discounting ourselves
  • not taking risks
  • discounting our feelings
  • having relationships and spending time withnegative and critical people
  • comparing ourselves to others
  • self-criticism
  • making choices that do not have integrity withour values and beliefs
  • working at a job we hate or living in a homewhere we don’t feel safe
  • always putting others first

How are you keeping your inner critic fed?

As much as I try to get rid of my inner critic, I keep her alive when I criticize others. In shifting my criticism from myself to others I still feed the inner judge.

It's only when I can be non judgmental that I'm truly free.
